Yashkin has not had a medical in Arizona and will miss the World Hockey Championship

Dmitry Yashkin will not participate in the preparations of the national team before the World Cup in Finland and will not fight to start the top event of the season. The management of Arizona, where he plays in the NHL, revoked the 29-year-old’s starting approval on the recommendation of the club doctor. Yashkin missed most of the season with a knee injury.

“Dmitry himself wants to fight for a world championship nomination. Despite not playing in a competitive match since his November injury, he is preparing individually and says he is 100% ready,” said general manager Petr Nedvěd.

After Arizona initially agreed to start Jashkin, the player was nominated for the Sweden Games. “On Monday, however, Coyote representatives informed us that, based on a medical examination, Dmitry will not be allowed to start the championship at last. The NHL rules are in some ways relentless and we must respect them,” Nedvěd added.

Vsetín’s descendants joined the training process in the US and are getting ready on the ice in recent days in Prague. “I’ve been training for a month and a half. Of course, the first days weren’t the easiest, but it’s getting better and better every day. The last two weeks I feel fine, everything is going well. That’s why I decided to fly to Europe and show myself,” Yashkin said in an interview with the daily Sport.

According to the original plan, he will fly to Sweden on Wednesday for the fourth tournament of the Euro Hockey Tour series, where he wants to convince coach Kari Jalonen to nominate him for the World Cup. In contrast, striker Ondřej Beránek of Karlovy Vary, who has completed all the pre-World Cup preparation camps with the national team, was also called up to the team.

Six NHL players can feature in the championships in Tampere and Helsinki. The team should gradually be joined by goalkeeper Karel Vejmelka of Arizona, defenders Filip Hronek (Detroit) and Radim imek (San Jose) and forwards Jakub Vrána (Detroit), Dominik Simon (Anaheim) and Tomáš Hertl (San Jose).
