Zeman described his health condition as cloudy, he suffers from tinnitus

“Sometimes several things hurt me at once, sometimes only one thing, and when I wake up in the morning, sometimes nothing hurts. (…) I have discovered that the only disease that is truly incurable is tinnitus,” says president, adding that the tinnitus is about 20 years old. He commented to the feeding probe in his stomach: “This will still take some time and will probably last until the fall.”

Last fall, Zeman spent nearly two months at the Central Military Hospital (ÚVN). The reason for hospitalization was not disclosed by Prague Castle. Doctors confirmed the need for treatment with complications associated with Zeman’s chronic disease. Surgeon Pavel Pafko, a member of the president’s medical council, said Zeman had chronic liver disease and suggested it was cirrhosis of the liver. Zeman has repeatedly spoken about suffering from anorexia.

Constant medical care

When the president was released to home care, the hospital said he continued to recommend treatment to the president at a specialized medical facility. Senior Home Group took over the responsibility of caring for Zeman after being discharged from the hospital. VN submits the necessary medical documentation and treatment plans. Since then, nurses have looked after the president, who is in a wheelchair, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The company will continue to provide care, successful in the tender.

Zeman also mentioned today that doctors forbade him to travel by plane. In early April, Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS) stated that he would represent the president again at his request at a NATO summit in Madrid in June. According to the Prime Minister, Zeman justified his absence precisely by the fact that doctors forbade him to travel by plane.
