Zeman described his health condition as cloudy intermittently, he suffers from tinnitus

“Sometimes several things hurt me at once, sometimes only one, and when I wake up in the morning, sometimes nothing hurts. (…) I discovered that the only disease that is completely incurable is tinnitus,” says president, adding that ringing in the ears has been around for 20 years. Regarding the feeding tube, he commented, “It’s still going on, and it will probably take until the fall.”

Zeman spent nearly two months at the Central Military Hospital (ÚVN) last fall. Prague Castle did not disclose the reason for hospitalization. Doctors confirmed the need for treatment due to complications associated with Zeman’s chronic disease. A member of the president’s medical council, surgeon Pavel Pafko, said Zeman had chronic liver disease and indicated it was cirrhosis of the liver. Zeman repeatedly talks about the fact that he suffers from anorexia.

Sustainable health

When the president was discharged for home care, the hospital said it continued to recommend the president receive treatment at a specialized medical facility. Senior Home Group took charge of Zeman’s care when he was discharged from the hospital. VN provided him with the necessary medical documentation and a treatment plan. Since then, nurses have cared for the president, who moves in a wheelchair, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The company will continue to provide care, it was successful in the selection process.

Zeman also mentioned today that doctors have banned him from traveling by plane. Prime Minister Petr Fiala (ODS) said in early April that he would represent the president again at the June NATO summit in Madrid at his request. According to the Prime Minister, Zeman confirmed his absence by the fact that doctors forbade him to travel by plane.
