War reparations
On September 1, 2022, a report was presented on the losses suffered by Poland as a result of German aggression and occupation during World War II. It was prepared by a team led by Arkadiusz Mularczyk, who was active in the previous parliamentary term. On October 3, Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau signed a diplomatic note to the German side regarding reparations. In it, Poland demands, among other things, compensation for material and intangible losses amounting to PLN 6 billion 220 billion 609 million and compensation.
A few days ago Gazetalubuska.pl described the case of Łukasz Porycki, deputy marshal of Lubuskie from Polish People’s Partywho posted a comment on Twitter to Deputy Foreign Minister Arkadiusz Mularczyk’s post. As the newspapers reported, peasant party politicians posted comments on social networks: “This will be something to burn in the fireplace”, under the post of Minister Mularczyk, informing him that an abridged version of the reparations report would soon be traveling the world. “The photo shows a copy of the report with meaningful photos of the burning towers of the Royal Castle, which were bombed by the Germans during World War II,” we read.
Conflict in PSL?
Kosiniak-Kamysz when asked on RMF FM about Porycki’s inclusion, he confirmed that this was not PSL’s official stance. “That’s a personal opinion, completely unnecessary and should disappear from the internet” – he said.
When asked if he would order Porycki to remove the entry, the chairman of the People’s Party said: “You should immediately apply and listen to today’s conversation, and then there is no need for individual conversations.” I think the signal I am giving now that there is no place in today’s public space for such erroneous and stupid statements is sufficient; “You just need to delete it, apologize because someone made a mistake” – he added.
