We sent a reparation report to the US Congress

The issue of war reparations for Poland from Germany must be promoted on the international stage; that is why we sent reports on reparations to the US Congress and Senate – underlined on Friday the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Arkadiusz Mularczyk. He added that this report will also be sent to the EP and the national parliament.

Mularczyk said Friday in a press conference that there was still too little knowledge of the reparations from Germany requested by Poland.

Of course there is knowledge of World War II, there is knowledge of the serious Polish war losses. However, there is no knowledge that Poland never received reparations for war

– said the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In his opinion, the German state discriminated against Polish victims of World War II, victims of Central and Eastern Europe.

Therefore, we believe that American congressmen and senators should be aware of this matter

Mularczyk stressed.

The undersecretary said that all offices of American congressmen and senators would accept the report prepared by Poland on its war losses in English. He added that there is also a website in English: reparationforpoland.com, where you can find all the information about Poland’s war losses.

We believe that the issue of reparations and war compensation should be promoted on the international stage. Politicians, decision makers, government representatives, foreign ministers and the media should know this, because this is a certain element of pressure, an element of pressure on the German state to regulate this.

said the deputy minister.

According to him, the inclusion of the US Congress in this issue is very important from the point of view of promoting this topic, “because the US Congress, the US Senate have great influence outside.”

Extensive diplomatic actions regarding reparations

The deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs recalled that “the Polish government sent a diplomatic note to the German government demanding – de facto – compensation, return of plundered cultural goods, works of art, bank resources and restitution of property.”

The German government saw no possibility of discussing this issue, so we carried out an information campaign, a diplomatic campaign and a political campaign

Mularczyk said.

He also announced that he was preparing further initiatives in the European Parliament and in national parliaments.

I would like to inform you that a war loss report in this basic version, but also in an abridged version, is prepared for a number of languages, for German, French, Italian, Ukrainian; we also started a large distribution of these materials

– noted the deputy minister.

Today I am announcing the delivery of this material to the US Congress and Senate, but we also have major distribution of this material to the EP and national parliaments

– added.

According to Mularczyk, it is also important to include American Polonia in this issue.

I held meetings in Washington, New York and Chicago with the Polish American community. There is great interest in the Polish American Congress, we received a number of inquiries and cooperation proposals because the Polish American community is very interested in this issue.

Mularczyk stressed.

He also announced that in the coming week – on Monday and Tuesday – he would be traveling to Berlin to meet German MPs and ministers.

And I will also raise this topic during the bilateral talks. I hope, step by step, we will arrive at our approximate position

– said the deputy head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
