Mallett drowned on a beach near the city of Destin, in north Florida.
In a recent post on Facebook Madison Carter’s boyfriend is open about the loss.
He also shared his sadness that he couldn’t help the man in his life:
– How can I find the right word? I wish God had a plan for this, but I believe that I will never understand why this happened. I am so sorry I couldn’t save you, and I hope you understand how hard I tried, he wrote.
The two were on vacation together when the tragedy occurred.
– I don’t understand how to move forward. Words cannot describe how much I miss you.
