Shocking words of the Gdańsk vice president about the outbreak of war. Politicians and journalists reacted

The Vice President of Gdańsk, Monika Chabior, caused a scandal with the shocking words she uttered at Thursday’s City Council session, when the issue of compensation and compensation for the losses suffered by Poland during World War II was discussed. According to him, the outbreak of World War II was due to a lack of understanding between Germany and Poland.

During the session, Vice President Monika Chabior argued that cooperation with Germany was “very important.” “The lack of understanding between countries led to major tragedies in the past,” he said.

KACPER PŁAŻYŃSKI: I CALL ON THE PRESIDENT OF GDAŃSK TO DISMISS HIS DEPUTY

Law and Justice politicians react to the words of the Gdańsk vice president. Member of Parliament Kacper Płażyński asked President Aleksandra Dulkiewicz to dismiss Monika Chabior.

– Yes, the same again: an important official from Gdańsk granted pardon to Germany, lied about the causes of the outbreak of the war, and indirectly blamed Poland. Mrs. Chabior: World War II was started by the German state, Germany killed 6 million Poles, Germany killed men, raped women, and burned children alive. Germany ultimately stole Poland’s national treasures. Germany started the war to destroy Poland, not because of “a lack of understanding between the countries.” Madam President Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, that’s enough. I ask you to dismiss your deputy! – wrote MP Płażyński on platform X (formerly Twitter).

TOMASZ RAKOWSKI: I THINK MRS CHABIOR WOULD CONCLUDE THAT YOU SHOULD APOLOGIZE

Tomasz Rakowski, Gdańsk Law and Justice representative and candidate in the Sejm elections, also commented on the Gdańsk vice president’s statement on Radio Gdańsk.

– These are outrageous words. Ms. Chabior should be reminded of basic historical knowledge about Germany and its imperial plans in the 1930s. Germany attacked Poland not because it could not communicate with Poland, but because it wanted to destroy the Polish nation. We must be sensitive to this, especially in Pomerania. I don’t want to believe that the president is trying to rewrite history. Maybe it’s about forgetting yourself, but it needs to be noticed and reminded. Several years ago, Vice President Grzelak spoke about the bad words of Poles towards Germans and apologized for it. I think Mrs. Chabior will also come to the conclusion that he must apologize and withdraw these embarrassing words. We will intervene in this matter, Rakowski announced. The whole conversation >>>HERE.

There were also comments from council members who were present at the city council meeting that day. Councilor Andrzej Skiba from PiS reminded the audience what the historical issues mentioned actually were.

– At this point, we need to react because the president used the phrase that lack of understanding in the past led to war. It was not a lack of understanding, just the policy of the Third German Reich, which consisted specifically in the extermination of Poles and other Slavic nations in this part of Europe. It was Germany’s territorial demands on Poland that led to the war, he said.

– Times are changing, but the idea of “Polish people saying bad words against other countries” is still alive among the Gdańsk authorities. And this is the day when, as City Council, we would like to adopt a resolution to support the government in seeking compensation from Germany for damages during World War II! – said board member Przemysław Majewski of PiS on the X platform (formerly Twitter).

JOURNALIST COMMENTARY

Monika Chabior’s words did not escape the attention of Tricity public relations and journalists.

– Madam Vice President, whose family lived in the Viktoriaschule and Stutthof, knew very well how World War II started and who the invaders and occupiers were. He knows, but he doesn’t want to say… – wrote Jakub Klebba, journalist for TVP3 Gdańsk, on social media.

– Great, not only Germany fought World War II, but also Poland, which, even worse, came to power… President Chabior had to pack things from his desk in
Aleksandra Dulkiewicz – comments Maciej Naskręt from Polskie Radio 24.

– Madam President Monika Chabior, you are talking nonsense and this is embarrassing for officials from Gdańsk. I’ll buy you tickets to the World War II Museum out of my own pocket. Get basic knowledge about the outbreak of World War II, says Chabior Vice President Andrzej Ługin from the Gdańsk Strefa Prestiżu portal.
