“I’m sure they’re trying to prevent people from seeing each other. So more systems converge and people go digital and spend more of their time on business platforms. And that really bothers me,” says singer JAR Oto Klempíř about his fear of the current direction of the world. According to him, society does not realize that the modern world is becoming increasingly dangerous.

“We can’t look any further. The 20th century was more ‘clean’. Bad things threatened, like war, famine, food crises, but now we don’t really know what the risks are,” claims Klempíř, adding that today’s world can at any time create authoritarians who cannot accept pluralist opinions and who can abuse experts or perhaps artificial intelligence at any time.
JAR touches on societal developments in his new record Jezus Christ Neexistus?, which celebrates 33 years of existence. Although rapping in the late eighties was not easy, according to Klempíř, today its representatives control the world and often open up burning questions that other musicians cannot ponder.
“The topic is and will continue to grow, because the world continues to develop and more and more people realize that the world is developing into a dangerous world,” explains Klempíř. He himself recalled how he himself experienced misunderstandings at the beginning of JAR’s musical career. “We were stupid, everyone laughed at us,” he explained.
In the interview, the plumber also spoke openly about his journey to sobriety. “I quit many times, it was always terrible suffering. I couldn’t go to bars and I couldn’t see anyone smoking because I was just suffering. And I really wanted to get over it,” explained the musician. However, he eventually succeeded in placing sobriety as a priority in his value system. “One must find a way for oneself and give oneself an ‘internal order’ that will convince you that you are doing it right,” Klempíř concludes, adding that he now knows that the world prefers him to be sober.
