PiS MP Janusz Kowalski (Sovereign Poland) announced at a press conference in front of the German consulate in Opole the start of collecting signatures for a citizen’s bill on war reparations from Germany.

On Friday, in front of the consulate of the Federal Republic of Germany in Opole, Member of Parliament Kowalski held a press conference in which he referred to war reparations from Germany for the damage caused to Poland and its citizens during World War II. Sovereign Poland politician informed about the party’s new initiative.

Today we started a campaign in Opole on a citizens’ bill that requires the Polish government to submit a report on the state of affairs regarding reparations by September 1. (…) We demand that the German minority, the politicians of the German minority, faithfully support the position of the Republic of Poland. We demand that all other politicians always faithfully support this reparations position to exclude it from political contention. Today, on the 84th anniversary of Germany’s aggression against Poland, issues such as reparations must not divide us.

“We demand that Germany return the stolen property.”

The politician demanded that the issue of compensation for war losses suffered by the Polish Union in Germany, whose property was confiscated by the authorities of the Third Reich, be included.

In September 1939, transports of Polish Unity activists in the German 1st District began leaving the station in Opole. The activists who fought for Poland in Opole should also be remembered. In addition to reparations, we demand that Germany return the stolen Union property. This property has not been returned to German citizens of Polish origin to date. Likewise, works of art that remain in many homes in Germany today have not been returned

The politician assured that every year on September 1, he will hold a meeting in front of the German consulate in Opole to summarize the status of work regarding the reparations that Poland must pay from Germany.

During World War II, Poland suffered the greatest personal and material losses of any European country in terms of total population and national assets. It is difficult to find in modern European history an example of a major crime that went unpunished. As a result of World War II, Poland lost more than 5 million citizens, its culture was destroyed, and all Polish intellectuals were murdered.
