Paradancers from all over the world gather at UNYP Arena | PRAGUE 9 | News

Here, at the UNYP Arena in Podvinný mlýn, the Gala Para Dance evening, or wheelchair dance, is held. The women wore beautiful dresses and the men wore well-fitted suits.

This evening was the culmination of the competition day and an interesting introduction was given by the mayor of the city’s ninth district, Tomáš Portlík, together with dancer Kristýna Mücková.

“Kristýna Mücková and Vítězslav Rázek have a dance school in Českolipská in Prague 9, a famous dance school, and a wheelchair user once came to Víť Rázek and said that he also wanted to dance, he found out that the school existed, that there was also choreography and there also the need to compete, so he decided to hold the World Cup,” said Tomáš Portlík, mayor of Prague City Council 9.

As part of the International Dance Sports Competition, athletes from all over the world come together to compete for medal positions. Gradually they presented themselves in various categories. For example, in the IPC or Non-IPC category.

“This year we are trying something new, because based on last year’s experience, when we organized the European Championships, we decided to open our competition to beginner dancers as well, which is the category you mentioned and not only that for beginner dancers, but also for dancers who, for example, have not yet found a dance partner and dance with their friends, so sometimes two women dance together,” said Vítězslav Rázek – the organizer.

In the evening, the audience was also treated to royal regulations, where two wheelchair users danced together.

“It’s called a duo and it’s an amazing thing because it’s a very high-tech thing where they can not only move themselves in a wheelchair, but they can also coordinate with their partner, so as you mentioned, there’s a category of combi, as we call tools help walk with wheelchair users, then duo and also dance alone. There, for example, we have our representative Marcela Řasová,” said Vítězslav Rázek – organizer.

He became national champion that night and got to do one additional dance as a bonus.

Multiple world champion Helena Kašická, who has been dancing since 2007, couldn’t miss the event.

“The furthest I’ve ever been is to Taiwan, Japan and China. Then Europe and next year I will go to America,” said Helena Kašická – dancer and world champion.

The gala evening – or Nine Dances, once again confirms that amateur, professional, healthy and disabled dancers, young and senior dancers can meet on one dance floor. The entire event is co-organized by Prague 9.
