Before the final round of the OBOS G17 nationals, it was clear that Vålerenga’s youngsters were the best team in the league. After 17 games played, they top the standings with 39 points, four points ahead of this year’s final opponents, the Vikings.
This is the first time that Norsk Toppfotball has held a national series for the G17, and a historic series championship has been collected.
– This league has been an excellent learning ground for our players. Everything from the travel and various experiences in the stadium, to opponents at the elite level, have helped the players to develop and at least understand the responsibilities that come with being a professional athlete, coach Bryant Lazaro said and added:
– The final game of the year against the second placed team was the perfect way to end the season. We will perform as we have done all year, namely controlling the game with the ball and pressing high. We’ve had good support at the Intiility Arena so far this year, and expect lots to come to the final showdown of the year as well.
Vålerenga meets Viking at Intiility Arena, Wednesday 8 November at 17:00. Join the journey and give the series champions the awards they deserve! There is free admission.
With victory in the national league, the Scandinavian championship also awaits in Borås in the period 6 – 10 December. Play-off with two Swedish teams, two Danish teams and three Norwegian teams.
– Being allowed to be one of Norway’s representatives at the Scandinavian Championships has been our goal all season. We always want to compete with the best, said Lazaro and added:
– We want to show our identity against top international opponents and end a fantastic year with another medal.
