Eriksen scored twice when Molde played with Häcken
Two weeks after Molde crushed Per Mathias Høgmos Häcken at home, they repeated their win in the fourth round of the Europa League.
Before the quarter was played, both teams had created big opportunities.
Then it becomes a “häcktisch” for Høgmo’s men. The Norwegian visitors were effective when former elite league player Tomas Totland disrupted them. Molde veteran Magnus Wolff Eikrem picked up the ball and quickly passed it to Fredrik Aasmundrud Gulbransen, who kept his cool and scored the first goal of the match.
Nine minutes later, Kristian Eriksen doubled the lead through Eikrem’s corner kick. The ball passed Martin Ellingsen before Eriksen put it into the net.
In the second half, the home team looked for reductions and in the 65th minute it was up to last year’s Allsvenskan winners.
Molde goalkeeper Oliver Petersen saved the first shot attempt, but Srdjan Hrstic easily scored on the rebound.
– I think it’s a bit unnecessary if they can’t clear the first ball, says NRK football expert Carl-Erik Torp on NRK Sport.
After a reduction, Häcken chased the equalizer, but it was Kristian Eriksen who scored the fourth goal of the game beautifully. The final result was 3-1 for the blue jerseys.
With that, Romsdalingen secured three important points and are chasing promotion to the Europa League. Molde now has the same number of points as Qarabag in Group H who lost 0-1 to Bayer Leverkusen earlier this morning. The final leading group with 12 of 12 possible points.
