Klæbo was declared healthy and cleared to start the World Cup in Ruka
Johannes Høsflot Klæbo (27) attends the opening match of the World Cup in cross-country skiing in Ruka, Finland.
As World Cup winner, Johannes Høsflot Klæbo is guaranteed a place in the World Cup until Christmas. In the next few weeks, he does not rely on qualifying through results on the ski slopes.
Klæbo is not part of the national team this season. This means he is relying on a representation agreement with the Norwegian Ski Association to run in Ruka. These will be signed before the race in Finland starts on Friday.
After some back and forth in recent months, the Norwegian Ski Association has confirmed that Klæbo could get such a deal.
On November 7, Klæbo was discovered to have contracted the coronavirus while in the highlands in Livigno, Italy. The infection meant he had to miss the national cross country opener in Beitostølen, and it caused the decision to start the World Cup opener to be postponed. (NTB)
