Firefighters found fire traps among them: – Not good enough

Cables float, plugs are left unplugged and extension cords are used as a permanent solution. These are just some of the deficiencies discovered by the fire service.

– Here, text and images speak their own clear language. This is not good enough. There are things we have to fix.

This was confirmed by fire chief Jan Marius Nilsen at the Lower Romerike fire and rescue service.

The error was revealed through internal security.

– We want to be a good example for other communities. Especially those related to fire safety and fire protection. These findings are of course not good enough. “This is something we are working on,” Nilsen said.

Before Romerikes Blad who first mentioned this problem.

Nilsen said they spent a lot of resources on the internal round.

– We cannot demand more of others than we demand of ourselves.

THIS IS HOW IT HAPPENED: This is how it happened at the Skedsmo fire station.

He explains that the reason why extension cords should not be used as the fire department itself does – on a permanent basis – is because if the load gets too high over time, it can cause overheating, which in turn can cause a fire. .

The following are several things that were revealed in the examination.

  • At both Lørenskog fire station and Nittedal fire station, extension cables are used as a permanent solution. In the first context, its use is described as extensive.
  • At Lørenskog fire station, Skedsmo fire station and Nittedal fire station, electrical equipment – such as chargers – is not unplugged.
  • At Løken and Rømskog fire stations, the connections are filled with extension cords.
  • And in Løken there are no fire instructions, while in Bjørkelangen fire extinguishers are not hung or marked.
CHARGING CONNECTIONS: At Løken fire station, connections are filled with extension cables.

– We have now received a report that explains a lot, and we will look closely at what is compromising our security. Setting a bad example is never a good thing, but I would like to take this opportunity to remind you of the importance of fire safety:

– We are now entering a period that, according to experience, is burdened with many fires and the occurrence of fires in thousands of houses. Ensuring good and early warning is the most important fire protection measure you can take. Use smoke detector day on December 1 to test, possibly replace batteries, on fire detectors, Nilsen said.

He also warned against overloading electrical systems due to the use of Christmas lights, and also pointed out that more fires could occur in connection with cooking.

– And there are things that can be very dangerous: Candles combined with flammable decorations.
