Granerud after the flop: – Can't get any bigger contrast than this
Halvor Egner Granerud was very disappointed in the first heat and will not be seen in the show jumping final in Oberstdorf.
– I came out at the end of the coal, and then my skis disappeared. This indicates that there is too much rotation in the jump. It felt very strange, Granerud told NRK.
Granerud landed 105 meters away and lost his duel against Italy's Giovanni Bresadola, who landed 1.5 meters further into the ground.
– This means the hoppuka is actually completely destroyed, says NRK commentator Christian Nilssen.
Granerud won the previous edition of the German-Austrian show jumping competition. Approaching the next edition, his form is not so impressive.
– I think it's difficult to get much greater contrast. At least in ski jumping, Granerud said.
Marius Lindvik was Norway's big bright spot in the first half after winning his duel and immediately taking the lead.
Previously, Daniel-André Tande, Benjamin Østvold, and Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal also lost their duels.
Tande could still advance as one of the five “lucky losers”.
Hoppuka will visit Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Innsbruck, before the final takes place on January 6 in Bischofshofen.
