The municipal court accepted the written final decision. Health problems can now delay the start of the sentence.

Prague – The Prague Municipal Court received the written version of the final verdict against the lobbyist Roman Janousek, made by the Supreme Court of Appeal in Prague. Markéta Puci informed this.

The lobbyist, who was sentenced to 4.5 years in prison by a court for hitting a woman with a car, will learn his prison sentence in a few days. The Prague Municipal Court received the ruling from the High Court on Thursday, and sent it to Janousek and his lawyer Vít Široké on Friday. “Early next week the court will allow the convict to begin serving his sentence,” said Puci.

In the summons, the court will tell Janousek when his sentence will begin and at which prison he will be tried. One of the Prague prisons, namely Pankrác or Ruzyně, was taken into consideration.

The final decision is always handed down to the convict by the court of first instance, in this case the City Court in Prague. This is usually followed within a few days by a summons to begin serving the sentence, on a specific date. If the convict does not enter voluntarily, the court will ask the police to take him to prison.

After receiving the summons, Janoušek can ask the court to postpone the date of his entry behind bars, either for health reasons or for other important reasons, for example family.

Lobbyist lawyer Vít Široký said on Wednesday that his client had health problems after surgery for a subdural hematoma and he may have to undergo a new operation.

According to the Criminal Code, the chairman of the court panel postpones the implementation of a prison sentence for the required period, if “from the health report of the convict being hospitalized in an inpatient health facility or from other facts” it appears that the implementation of the sentence will endanger the life or health of the convict.

The prison can also decide on his health condition

However, if the chairman of the panel concludes that these reasons were not provided, then he will invite the convict to submit a report on his health condition to the correctional institution concerned, no later than when the sentence begins. If this correctional institution finds that the convict's health condition does not allow him to serve the sentence, then he will propose to the court whether the sentence is postponed or its implementation is stopped.

In Janoušek's case, a possible delay in his entry into prison will be decided by judge Tomáš Kubovec himself, who handled his case from the start, or by one of Prague's two prisons, namely Pankrác or Ruzyně. Which of the two prisons Janoušek will appear in, the court will determine in the invitation to begin serving his sentence.

In 2012, a drunk lobbyist beat a female driver who wanted to resolve their previous traffic accident in Michla, Prague, and fled the scene of the collision. The Prague Municipal Court initially sentenced him to three years in prison, the High Court increased the sentence to 1.5 years. Additionally, Janoušek will not be allowed to drive for seven years after his release.

Janousek faced up to ten years in prison for aggravated physical abuse, but the court took into account, among other things, the fact that he did not yet have a criminal record and that he demonstrated an effort to repair the consequences of the crime when he committed the crime. paid the woman compensation of 900,000 crowns. That's why they sent him to a lighter prison with supervision.
