Kovalsky had already packed his rifle when one of his team members shouted that he had hit the invaders. He lay motionless for several hours in the winter before the order to fire came. The bullet took nine seconds to reach the target.

“I hope Russia already knows Ukraine's capabilities. Let them sit at home and be afraid,” said the soldier, who has not spoken to the media. The story carries American newspaper The Wall Street Journal. He managed to break the record on November 18 right before his regular rest day. He was waiting for Russian soldiers with his observers on the banks of the Dnieper River in the Kherson Region near a Russian military base.

The two men, members of the Ukrainian military intelligence SBU, observed a group of Russian soldiers chopping wood, but their ranks were too low to shoot them. However, around noon, five higher-ranking soldiers appeared, and the two Ukrainians got to work.

The observer measured the distance with a laser and, using special software and meteorological data, concluded that there was a strong wind blowing in the area, which would have moved the bullet about 60 meters from its normal trajectory. “You have to shoot quickly because the wind is constantly changing,” explains Vyacheslav Kovalsky. Before hitting the Russian officer, he tried to open fire on the ground about 300 meters from the position taken. He missed because they miscalculated the wind speed.

So he reloaded and aimed until the spotter finally told him to shoot. “Now you can,” he insisted and the sniper pulled the trigger. The shot had a trajectory similar to that of a small artillery shell, rising up to a hundred meters above the target before descending on the unsuspecting Russian officer.

The published video (you can watch it at the beginning of the article) captured the moment of real shock and shock from his colleagues, who were right next to him. According to Kovalsky, the bullet hit the Russian officer in the chest or stomach. “There was no way he survived,” he testified, adding that he used large bullets. The precision shot broke the previous record set by a Canadian sniper in Iraq in 2017.

A Ukrainian killed a Russian using Horizon's Lord multi-purpose sniper rifle, developed with the help of experts from the United States and Britain. It weighs 16.7 kilograms, is 1.82 meters long when opened, and is used primarily for long-range attacks.
