World Oral Health Day falls on March 20 every year. However, in order for education to have a wider reach, the thirteenth municipal district together with the Dental Chamber of the Czech Republic decided to organize it on Mondays and thus educate not only families with children, but also students in their schools and kindergartens.

“All elementary school children can come to Sun Square, look around there, and explain how to clean their teeth, but also in a fun way, because they know how to clean their teeth and care for them. their teeth are very important for a person’s overall development and the development of his or her personality,” said David Vodrážka, Mayor of Prague 13.

This year’s event was framed with the motto You don’t clean, you pay. This means that if we don’t take good care of our teeth, we will spend a lot of money on treatment.

“When I took over the space five years ago, Czechs were using 0.8 toothbrushes per year, which was a very unrealistic figure. In Germany, the number is 6 toothbrushes. They change it every two months, ordinary Germans every month. Of course, there are some people who are less. “I was afraid of how many people don’t brush their teeth, based on the number of toothbrushes they use in a year, so this is a dramatic increase,” said Roman Šmucler, president of the Czech Chamber of Stomatology.

About ten stalls await all visitors at Sluneční náměstí on Mondays.

“There must be something experiential at each station, whether it’s really dental hygiene, how it’s implemented. As I mentioned earlier, in a fun way, the teeth will also be presented, so there are theatrical performances several times a day. So I think they will enjoy it both children and adults,” said Aneta Ečeková Maršálová, councilor of Prague City Council 13.

The event will take place from 8 am to 5 pm, but until 2 pm the event is specifically for schools. After that, the organizers are waiting for the general public.
