PiS MP Piotr Müller angrily commented on the scandalous case of removing an exhibition about Polish saints from the Museum of the Second World War. Pastor Kolbe, Rtm. Pilecki and Blessed Ulma Family. “In their opinion, Father Kolbe and Captain Pilecki ‘interfere with the anthropological character of the narrative,’ and the Ulma family ‘interfere with the artistic composition,’” he wrote.

Piotr Müller referred to the explanation of the management of the Second World War Museum which decided to remove the Polish hero from the permanent exhibition.

In this part of the exhibition, professional, national or social categories are deliberately not differentiated, for example political prisoners or homosexuals. It is not for nothing that there are no photos of pre-war prisoners or stories of famous people. Instead, elements of everyday life are shown, such as the camp regime, starvation, medical experiments, resistance, leisure, etc. The introduction of a work specially dedicated to the Roman Catholic clergy and the hanging of portraits of Father Kolbe and Rtm. at the center point of this space. Pilecki was disturbed by the anthropological nature of the narrative. Likewise, the placement of a large format photo of Ulma’s family in the section “The Road to Auschwitz”, which tells about the death of prisoners in the extermination camps, undermines the artistic composition and narrative coherence of this part of the exhibition. We add that any changes to the narrative exhibition must not only be made in consultation with the author, but must also be well thought out, consistent in terms of content and scenography.
