Deleted thread and collaboration with experts

– The permanent exhibition of the Museum of the Second World War does not implement German or Russian historical policy. It represents Polish historical policy. It is a very important voice in the big debate on historical policy, Professor Rafał Wnuk stressed. He admitted that the restoration of the removed elements of the exhibition will take several months, and there will be many more changes. Many of them are technical, but also substantive. – In the Finnish region, for example, we have false information. We have known about it for 10 years. I would very much like to replace it. This is a substantive thing, said the museum director.

COLLABORATION WITH EXPERTS

As Professor Wnuk said, museum staff want to work with other institutions and museums on issues related to Father Maksymilian Kolbe and the Ulma family.

– If we talk about the most famous cases, the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum would certainly be number one, because it has the best specialists in the field of the problems we are interested in. I also sent a proposal for cooperation to the museum in Markowa. I hope that researchers from other centers will cooperate with us, the director added.

For now, it is difficult to say when the recently removed thread will be returned to the exhibition. As the Gdańsk museum authorities emphasize, the work must respect the freedom of its creator, and the changes must be consistent with current historical knowledge.

CONTROVERSY AND CHANGES IN DECISIONS

The changes we reported to the permanent exhibition of the World War II Museum include: HERE. On June 29, the institution’s authorities announced that Father Maksymilian Kolbe and the Ulma family would be included in the exhibition.
