— As you know, the solution is not simple and easy, I had the opportunity to speak since the morning, the first meeting with the Swedish Prime Minister and every subsequent meeting showed full understanding. Each of my interlocutors, without exception, demonstrated understanding not only of Poland’s situation regarding aggressive migration on the eastern borders, but they all expressed joint action, Tusk said.
— All migration laws are focused on how to protect those fleeing dictatorship. For the first time, everyone, from left to right, recognized that things had changed completely, that we were facing a very different migration, the Prime Minister said.
He added, “Poland reserves the right to implement specific solutions.”
Donald Tusk turns to Germany. “I told them.”
– There is a possibility of sending immigrants back to a third country that agrees to them to get adequate financial support, but this is not a solution to the problem – said the head of the Polish government.
– Everyone realizes that we will not be able to cope without effective and tough EU border protection – he added. According to Tusk, “relocation doesn’t solve anything, we won’t do it.” – We have too many problems related to, for example, war, – he said.
— It is important for me that everyone realizes that since we are defending the border, what we plan to organize on the eastern border is in the interests of, for example, Germany. I told them, Tusk said.
— I don’t need a legalistic alibi. I needed that kind of understanding for Poland and it happened one hundred percent there. We will take the decision in Poland, he added.
“Nothing new happened”
— We will deal with Belarus using our Polish methods. I have received full acceptance, said the Prime Minister. He added that he received information that on Thursday there were seven attempts to cross the border, and “on the worst days there were 600 or more such attempts.”
– We will also see how our announcement will discourage people from approaching our borders – he added. — The French president asked if he could see the border with Belarus, Tusk said.
— When it comes to migration pacts, nothing new has happened. It is not the European Council that can change its provisions or cancel them. Poland’s status quo and understanding were maintained. Solidarity with Poland, written in the conclusion, is not just empty words, the Prime Minister added.
– Of course it’s difficult [w stosunku do nielegalnych migrantów — red.] gained great support in the EU. “I was surprised (…) and pleased by the change in attitude,” said Tusk.
The Council of Europe expressed its solidarity with Poland regarding the situation on the border with Belarus

On Thursday, leaders managed to reach unanimous conclusions on migration, which, along with the war in Ukraine, was the main topic of the EU summit in Brussels.
“Russia and Belarus and no other country should abuse our values, including the right to asylum, and undermine our democracy. The European Council expressed solidarity with Poland and the Member States facing this challenge. Extraordinary challenges require appropriate action,” we read in the conclusion.
The leaders emphasized their determination to effectively protect the EU’s external borders using all possible means, including with EU support, in line with EU and international law.
