00:01. Ukrainian Intelligence: Kim Jong Un’s close advisers in Russia will monitor North Korean soldiers

Kim Jong Bok, a close associate of North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, has arrived in Russia, where he will supervise North Korean soldiers sent there, Kyodo news agency reported, citing Ukrainian military intelligence (HUR) sources.

Kim Jong Bok is currently deputy chief of general staff of the Korean People’s Army. Previously, he commanded North Korean special forces, Kyodo reported.

According to the North Korea Leadership Watch website, Kim has repeatedly accompanied the dictator on military exercises.

South Korean intelligence reported in recent days that Pyongyang had sent around 3,000 troops to the Russian Far East. army, and a total of 10,000 of them will be sent there by the end of the year. These findings were strengthened by, among others: the US and several EU countries, including Poland and the Netherlands.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said North Korean troops would be involved in fighting on Sunday or Monday in Kursk Oblast in western Russia, where the Ukrainian army has been operating since August 6.

Zelensky warned that sending North Korean soldiers to the front lines would be “the first step towards world war” and called on the West to take decisive action. In contrast, NATO warned that if North Korean troops joined Russian forces in Ukraine, this could escalate the war.
