– The skiers are satisfied with the information we receive about the work being done with sponsors, both existing and new, ski president Erik Rste told NRK.
Earlier this spring, he and the Norwegian Ski Association were vehemently opposed and put forward a jump to requirements for regular reporting and some sort of step-by-step model for when sponsorship revenue kicks in. The first proper review is on May 1st.
The reason is, all sponsorship agreements for the national jumping team expire at the end of May.
NRK was notified that the branch had to earn a sponsorship income of NOK 10 million by the end of May.
Yesterday wrote VG that the national jump team would not be able to secure the required 5 million kroner in sponsorship funds before May 1, but now the Norwegian Ski Association branch is making an equally large loan to give the national jump team more time to find new sponsors.
This was confirmed by ski president Erik Rste to NRK.
Avoid budget cuts
The loan comes from event profits and is valid until 2022. In principle, the association’s branches must repay these funds in the fall.
– Some have been distributed, some are retained as risk buffers. Hopp is now getting this as a loan to get the extra time they’re asking for the deal they’re working on, Røste said.
– Other branches positively contributed with this loan so the jumpers could get the extra time they asked for, Røste followed up.
If the national jumping team doesn’t manage to collect 5 million by May 1, the jumping committee will have to cut the national jumping team’s budget. So it’s avoiding them now.
surprised
The national team manager for jumpers, Clas Brede Bråthen, had not heard anything from the Ski Association and was surprised the loan was granted when NRK called.
– If it’s resolved, and we get the opportunity to continue working with the process we’re on, then that’s certainly satisfying, Bråthen told NRK.
– We have made a huge contribution to the profits of this event. The jump was a significant contributor in the event pot, no doubt I mean, the manager of the national team followed up.
Bråthen had several times shouted warnings both at NRK and in other media before. He believes that the ugly labor dispute between himself on the one hand and the management of the Ski Association on the other, and what followed, should be responsible for the difficult situation of the sport of jumping on the part of the sponsors.
