Silver World Cup for Jakob Ingebrigtsen – NRK Sport – Sports news, results and broadcast schedule

– Of course I’m disappointed. I know I came here as the best. “I don’t know, I’m not feeling really well today,” Ingebrigtsen told NRK.

Jakob Ingebrigtsen led from start to finish in the World Cup final in the 1500 metres.

Ingebrigtsen even set a world record for a while, but calmed down a bit and preferred to control gold. He didn’t make it. In the race, Samuel Tefera appeared on the side of Ingebrigtsen. In the intense duel of the last few meters, the former world record holder was the strongest.

Ingebrigtsen time is 3.33.02. He was 25 percent behind the winner.

Norwegians are not happy with that.

– I don’t feel that I’m as good as I should be all this time. I don’t know why, said Ingebrigtsen.

Henrik’s brother wasn’t too critical.

– I think everyone understands that Jakob is disappointed in his ambition. “All of us around him are very proud of the silver medal at the World Cup,” Henrik told NRK.

With Olympic gold from this summer, and a world record for training a month ago, Ingebrigtsen goes into the World Cup final as the big favorite.

– Of course I try to do my best to prevent this from happening. But I honestly didn’t see this coming. I felt pretty good warming up and, the 21-year-old said.

– How often do you have such days?

DISAPPOINTED: – I’ve won the Olympics and set a world record recently, so I definitely had to win today, said Jakob Ingebrigtsen.

– In training I have it almost all the time, but I rarely feel so bad in competitions.

To Ingebrigtsen it was clear that he should have taken this gold. Everything else was too bad, in his own words.

– When you win, you will win next time too. If you can’t fulfill it, you don’t have a positive development in anything.

Already after a round and a half, Ingebrigtsen took the lead. From the front, the Norwegian tried to crush competitors to pieces.

With three rounds remaining, Ingebrigtsen seemed to be in complete control. He looked to the side and continued to control the competitors. But then Ingebrigtsen calmed down a bit. The Norwegian himself wasn’t sure why it wasn’t going the way he wanted it to.

“I’ll basically be good enough to do what I want in that field here,” Ingebrigtsen said.

– Not many positive things you can bring

Jakob Ingebrigtsen set a world record for the practice earlier this winter, when he ran 3.30.60 in indoor competition in France in February. At the time, Ingebrigtsen had a bunny who did a lot of the work for him. Then he beat Tefera, but today the Ethiopian is getting better.

– In France I am much better than this, and I feel good in training. I’m not to blame for the illness, but I didn’t perform as I expected. When others are at their best, we are almost as good. “I have nothing else to say other than that I don’t feel anything good,” Ingebrigtsen said.

In yesterday’s semifinal, the Norwegian was in full control. He lay at the back of the court for a while, before moving forward to take the lead and take control of the court in the final laps. But today the body is not working properly.

– It is not so positive to carry. But the neutral thing is that you can sometimes underperform, even if you’ve done everything right before. I don’t know much other than that.
