– That is very fun. There was a big bang at the starting line and you could hear the cheers. I really appreciate that people are so committed. “That means an incredible amount,” said Jakob Ingebrigtsen after the race.
He’s probably one of the few to be happy with the weather at the stadium.
– This is probably the most mental. But that’s fine when everything else is already there, so it’s up to me. So all very well tonight. “I’m very happy, and hopefully I can bring a lot of stuff for next week,” said Ingebrigtsen.
Motivating notes
Ingebrigtsen is running the Bislett Games for the first time since 2019, and he is the big favorite to clinch victory in the British mile.
One of the tensions is whether he can break 37-year-old Steve Cram’s European record of 3,46,32.
It didn’t work out, but he became the first Norwegian to win the Dream at Bislett.
He finished in a time of 3.46.46, which is a Norwegian record at a distance. It is also the best of the year in the world.
– I feel I have to help myself a little bit to take care of myself. “If I take it all at once, there’s not much going back to next year,” he said of the record he could take on Thursday night.
– When you finish something, of course very cool. But it’s motivating not to take all the notes at once, so you can hunt for something next time.

It was going fast at first, and he had two competitors ahead of him. Eventually there was also a stretch and Ingebrigtsen and the other three got some distance from the group.

He thought it was a good sign before the World Cup.
– It couldn’t be better. Everything went according to plan, and he looked very strong, Ingebrigtsen’s brother said.
He will now do what he can so that Jakob’s little brother gets the best pay for this summer’s championship.
– I can keep him out of the trap, that’s my most important job. “Make sure he doesn’t make the same mistakes I did,” said Henrik Ingebrigtsen.
