The war in Ukraine has been going on for four months now, and the intensity of the fighting, which has moved mostly to the Donbass, has not weakened. German Chancellor Olaf Scholz spoke about his predictions about the possibility of ending the invasion of Russia. The politician, who has a long history of talks with Vladimir Putin behind his back, revealed how he sees the Russian president’s strategy.
War in Ukraine. Scholz: Putin has been preparing for a year
Olaf Scholz stated that he was the leader of a great nation which had many means to wage this brutal war. According to him, Putin had been planning the invasion for a long time. – I think the decision to start this war was made a year before it started, or even earlier, because he was preparing for it. In this case, he will be able to continue the war for a long time – analyze the German chancellor.
Sanctions hurt Putin?
The politician stressed, however, that although Putin does not admit it, the impact of Western sanctions on Russia is visible. “This has been done for a less developed country, which desperately needs all the technology from around the world to have the same standard of living and have the opportunity to be a part of global economic growth,” said Scholz.
The chancellor was asked about the $2 billion a month Russia earns thanks to Germany paying for coal, gas and other raw materials. In response, he stated that Putin “He can’t buy anything with the money he gets from us, because there are all the sanctions on the import of modern technology and the things he’s looking for.”. “This is what makes (Putin – ed.) very angry,” he said.
To reporters’ assertions that Putin might be spending his money on something else or elsewhere, the chancellor began by vaguely replying that he was getting less and less.
