The apartment block was fired upon by Russian rockets on Saturday night, according to Ukrainian authorities. One of the victims was a nine-year-old boy who was found Monday night.
Chasiv Jar is located 20 kilometers south of Kramatorsk, one of the main targets of Russian troops moving west in the Donetsk region.
Donetsk Governor Pavlo Kyrylenko said at least 30 people may still be in the rubble.
The attack on the apartment block has been flagged as state terrorism by Ukrainian authorities.
Russia has systematically attacked civilian buildings since launching a full-scale war of aggression against Ukraine in February.
The United Nations has documented that more than 4,800 civilians have been killed since February, while Ukrainian authorities say the number is more than 12,000.
Russia has repeatedly denied that its forces attacked civilian targets, despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
Ukrainian authorities are now investigating more than 21,000 war crimes suspects. 200-300 cases are reported daily, according to the country’s attorney general.
