Henriette Jæger in fourth place WC: It’s great to be back

The 19-year-old tennis player from Aremark advanced on track 1 in the final on Thursday local time. The championship is held in Cali, Colombia.

Yemi Mary John on lane 4 won with a time of 51.50. This was another great feat for the British athlete, thereby increasing his record in the opening rounds, semifinals and finals.

Previously, John had promised to wear the tiara if he won, and he wore it after crossing the finish line.

Fix record

Henriette Jæger advanced to the final after finishing third in the semifinals with 52.33. He moved in just in time.

It was Norway’s age record, and Jæger improved it by another tenth in the final. His best run before the championship was 52.52.

Many difficulties

– I’m not going to complain about fourth place in the WC, but you obviously want a medal when you’re so close. But God, it’s great to be back to such a good level after so many difficulties last year, Jæger told Halden Arbeiderblad.

He stated that he couldn’t have done many different things in the final, because the last 50 meters were difficult.

– I was pretty stiff in the end. I don’t like excuses, but path 1 is probably not an advantage for me. But that might be a bit too far for a medal, the 19-year-old said.

Chosen for senior EC

Earlier on Thursday, it was announced that Jæger had been included in the EC athletics squad. He is one of the few to qualify for the 4 x 400 meter relay. The Norwegian Athletics Federation stated that the final team selection for the relay would take place later.

The Championships in Munich, Germany, will be held from Monday 15 August to Sunday 21 August.
