One of the most famous photography competitions in the world Sony World Photography Awards (Sony World Photo Awards) announced this year’s winners in mid-April, which we have already presented in the previous article. We will now focus more on the individual category finalists and present the beautiful photos vying for the highest position in the category marked Open (where individual images compete).
In the first section, you can see photos selected by the finalists in the Landscape, Travel Photography, Nature, Movement and Street Photography categories. Their common denominator is that they point out beautiful places and arouse the desire to visit them.
More than 340,000 images from 211 countries were submitted to this year’s Sony World Photography Awards. Open competition judge Hideko Kataoka, head of photography at Japan’s Newsweek, said: “I really enjoy judging categories ranging from still life photography to street photography. Creativity and originality are very important when selecting the winning images, and it’s great to see the enthusiasm and excitement of the photographers who her award-winning photographs shine. Each photo in the competition elegantly makes a coherent visual statement.”
