A draft resolution regarding foreign interference in the electoral process in Poland has been submitted to the Sejm

A draft resolution regarding foreign interference in the electoral process in Poland was submitted by PiS parliamentarians.

The project emphasizes that starting in 2015, the government of the Republic of Poland was elected through democratic elections and the parliamentary majority that constitutes its political base, which “at the will of the citizens of the Republic of Poland renewed its mandate to govern in 2019 and confirmed in the same year in the European elections, was targeted ” continuous attacks from groups that dominate the EU political scene.”

It stated that “German politicians played an important role in these actions.” The draft resolution reminds that “this was recently reflected in the statements of Manfred Weber – head of the largest political family in the EU – the European People’s Party, who openly stated that his party is building a +firewall against PiS+ and +…the only force who can replace PiS in Poland and lead the country back to Europe,+ he also announced +against+ political parties operating legally in Poland.

The draft resolution reminds that in accordance with Art. 4 section 1 Constitution of the Republic of Poland “The supreme power in the Republic of Poland belongs to the Nation”, and the political concept of the Polish Nation “includes the citizens of the Republic of Poland – they and only them.”

“Therefore, only those who have the power to form the supreme authority of the Republic of Poland, including the Sejm. They, and only they, decide the political color of the parliamentary majority elected in democratic elections, which in turn will appoint a government in accordance with the wishes of the citizens of the Republic of Poland expressed in those elections and not anyone else’s wishes, in writing. .

The draft resolution also notes that Poland has one of the oldest parliamentary and republican traditions in the world, dating back to the 15th century, and the experience of tragic foreign interference – as written – in Poland’s electoral process in the 18th century. leading to the collapse of statehood and 123 years of national captivity.

“We consider statements using military language by politicians who claim to be European and deprive them of all ambition to shape the Polish political scene through external factors and influences as unacceptable interference in the electoral process, contrary to European values, democratic principles. and national sovereignty,” he stressed.

It also added that young democracies founded after World War II in countries with strong authoritarian and totalitarian traditions “may not be aware that views on how to conduct the process of European integration differ from those prevailing in the camp that currently dominates the scene. The EU is a natural feature.” of the opposition, including the conservative opposition at EU level.

Opposition, as emphasized, exists in every democratic country. “Declarations to fight it, instead of treating it as a political competitor, are the hallmark of a totalitarian system,” he wrote.

The project also points out that “politicians of a country whose democratic system only existed as a condition for peace negotiations after World War I, and was later established by the Allies as a result of Germany’s defeat in World War II, had no right to do so. mandate to instruct others on democratic topics.

The draft emphasizes that “the Republic of Poland considers any foreign interference in the Polish electoral process as an act hostile to the Polish state and will fight it with all its might.” (PAP)
