The old politics are not changed by the new packaging.

It’s going to another Choice of direction and leadership disputes in crisis-hit KrF. Again, it’s about abortion and who the party should be for. The leader of the youth party, KrFU, believes the restrictive abortion position is futile and suitable to frighten voters. Hadle Bjuland wants the party to advocate preserving current abortion laws and fighting liberalization. Two candidates for vice chairman in the parent party are at odds over the issue.
There’s no reason to to believe that KrF would change its view on the issue of abortion, which it described as “the soul of the party”. The party’s goal is “to ensure legal protection for the life of the unborn also before the 12th week”, and supporters of the abolition of the prohibition line still speak passionately about the human dignity of the fetus. The move was purely a strategic choice. Just as American Republicans fell from their fundamentalist abortion position before the midterm elections, KrFers realized that opposition to abortion could not be marketed to anyone but core voters. They are a few of them.
Got massive support
Erna Solberg captivates KrF him with promises to tighten abortion laws. KrF leader then, Kjell Ingolf “You take one, you take two” Ropstad, gleefully called it the party’s biggest breakthrough in 40 years. On the contrary, it is a setback for opponents of abortion. People took to the streets in protest, and the promise was never fulfilled. But Solberg’s cynicism suggests that abortion laws are being sold for political power. Thus, the broad settlement was broken, and the supporters of liberalization were strongly mobilized. The court is now facing failure.
The purpose of KrF is the same. The battle is all about means and cosmetics. While some on the far right imagine that unilaterally appealing to the congregation is an ongoing thing, others recognize that it is a death sentence. Today’s KrF can only dream of the heyday around the turn of the century when Valgerd Svarstad Haugland waved red wine glasses and partyed for decades.
Some parties remain with long survival they will never gain traction, without seeming to harm them; just ask Red. But the issue of abortion is a matter of politics to be or not to be. It also reminds us that KrF is a backward and authoritarian party in all matters concerning people’s personal choices, especially women’s and queer choices. That’s why KrF is below the blocking limit, and is not replaced with a new package if the contents are the same as the old one.
