US President Joe Biden has acknowledged the possibility of running for re-election in 2024. According to him, the condition is that he will enjoy good health as before. In an interview with the ABC, the 75-year-old Biden also said that his chances of running for re-election would increase if former President Donald Trump ran for the White House again.
“Yes,” Biden answered a moderator’s question whether he planned to run for re-election. “If I had the same health as I am now, if I was in good health, then I would run again,” Biden added.
Asked if he would run, even if it meant “revenge” against Trump, Biden said, “Absolutely. Why wouldn’t I run against Donald Trump if he was a candidate? That would increase my chances of running.”
Biden and Trump are competing against each other in the November 2020 presidential election. Trump still does not accept his defeat and reiterates his baseless claims that the vote had been falsified and that the election had been stolen from him.
At this year’s inauguration, Biden became the oldest person to take the presidential oath at the age of 78. The question of whether he will run for a second term has accompanied him throughout his current presidency.
Until recently, Biden’s vice president, Kamala Harris, was considered Biden’s natural successor in the presidency. But rumors circulated in Washington about his current poor relationship with the president.
