Law and Justice plans to hold a national referendum on election day – October 15, 2023 – that will ask Polish citizens four questions. All opposition parties criticized this idea mainly because of the form of the question. Some parties have openly said they would encourage voters to boycott the referendum.
— Our voters will be able to decide for themselves whether they will not take part (in the referendum) or whether they will vote. We haven’t made any group decisions, but we think everyone now sees that this is not a true referendum — said KO club vice-chairman Robert Kropiwnicki about the Civic Coalition’s response to PiS’s move.
Left groups announced a boycott of the referendum
The left is more assertive and announced a boycott of the referendum. — We will definitely deceive the meaning of this referendum, it is not a referendum in the constitutional and legal sense, it is a political and legislative action of PiS – said Krzysztof Śmiszek, deputy chairman of the Left Club.
He added that politicians from this formation would not take part in the referendum and would encourage voters to do the same.

— We will clearly instruct every voter who asks us how to behave at the KPU — we collect voting cards for the Sejm and Senate, we refuse to collect referendum cards – said miszek.
The representative of the Polish People’s Party – Polish Coalition club, Krzysztof Paszyk, admitted that his formation was just preparing to announce its stance on the referendum. He also emphasized that the problem his question would raise was “artificial”.
— PSL or Third Way voters have minds of their own and know exactly what to do, Paszyk added.
The Confederation did not intend to call on voters to boycott the referendum
The head of the Confederation branch, Krzysztof Bosak, said the referendum was PiS’s instrument to impose campaign topics.

— Our voters think critically and also see it, so we don’t think that we need to influence voters or educate them in a certain way. “If we encourage people to do anything, it is to choose according to their own beliefs,” said Bosak.
