This country has the oldest population in the world

29.1 percent of the population is over 65 years old, reports BBC. As many as 125 million people live in this country.

Japan has struggled for years with a low birth rate and a declining population.

In comparison, 4.5 percent of Norway’s population is over 80 years old. As many as 16.2 percent of Norway’s population is over 67 years old, according to SSB.

Japan also has the largest proportion of the elderly workforce. 13 percent of all employees are over 65 years old.
