More than 500 applications for 10-15 jobs were received. There are about 10 full-time positions and in high season up to 20 people can work in the department store.

On November 10, the shop opened on Skippergata in Porsgrunn, not far from Down Town.

– We have been looking for a place in Grenland for several years, but until now have not found the right location, says marketing manager Magne Polsrød at Top-toy AS.

This Danish company owns the franchise rights to the American toy chain Toys R Us in Scandinavia. Additionally, they have the BR Leker chain with stores in Herkules, Down Town, and Brotorvet.

Teli Building

The 1,200 square meter department store will be located in the old Teli building along with a new Kiwi business just at the traffic lights before Down Town.

It will be a large toy store, but the department store will not be as large as some of the other department stores that have been established in Grenland recently. By comparison, the new XXL store is 2,200 square meters, while Rusta, which opened this week in Kjørbekk, has a 2,300 square meter warehouse.

– It will not be our biggest department store, but we will be able to present the entire range of products in a good way, stressed Polsrød at Top-toy AS.

The toy store will have a wide range of products with a focus on well-known brands. Additionally, the chain focuses heavily on seasonal items like costumes for Halloween and pools and trampolines heading into summer.
