The Redhrad district hit by the Russian missile attack is located right on the border with Poland. From Stryj, which is located south of Lviv, to the nearest border with Poland is about 100 kilometers.

Massive rocket attack by Putin’s Nazis on Remembrance Day and Victory over Nazism in World War II

– wrote the head of state in Telegram.

Zelensky revealed that Russia used more than 50 missiles and more than 20 Iranian-made Shahed drones for the attack. Infrastructure in Lviv, Vinnytsia, Kiev, Poltava, Kirovohrad, Zaporizhia and Ivano-Frankivsk regions was damaged. Zelensky assured that all services are working on the ground to eliminate the impact of the attack.

The whole world needs to clearly understand who is who. The world has no right to give Nazism another chance

– appealed to the president of Ukraine.

The Commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, General Mykola Oleschuk, revealed that Russian forces fired 55 missiles and 21 attack drones towards Ukraine.

As a result of the air battle, 59 targets were destroyed: 33 Ch-101/Ch-55 cruise missiles, four Kalibr cruise missiles, two Ch-59/Ch-69 guided air missiles and 20 Shahed 131/136 attack drones

In the evening, Russian troops carried out a large-scale attack on Ukrainian energy infrastructure facilities, which were fired upon using aircraft and attacking drones, the country’s authorities reported.

– said the Minister of Energy, Herman Haluszczenko.

The head of the Kiev city military administration, Serhiy Popko, announced that all targets flying towards Kiev were destroyed by air defenses. He revealed that Russia used Kh-101, Kh-555 and Kh-55 cruise missiles launched from Tu-95MS strategic bombers for the attack.

– wrote Popko on Telegram.

The official noted that Russia carried out another attack against Ukraine on May 8, the country’s Day of Remembrance and Reconciliation, dedicated to the victory over Nazi Germany in World War II.

Modern day fascists, racists (Russians) continue to kill civilians

Popko said.

00:01. Air Force: Poland can help protect our airspace

If Poland helps Ukraine protect at least some of its airspace in the western part of the country, this will increase our effectiveness in repelling Russian attacks; Thanks to this, we can move our resources to where they are needed more, said Illa Yevlash, a spokeswoman for the Ukrainian Air Force, on Tuesday.

The first thoughts on this topic (Polish participation in the protection of Ukrainian airspace – PAP) appeared after Russian missiles entered Polish airspace (in November 2022, when two residents of the village of Przewodów in Hrubieszów poviat were killed – PAP). Then talks started that Poland could +close+ at least part of (the skies) over western Ukraine. This will allow us to move our rocket and missile launchers, which are scarce and require constant replenishment (of resources), (near) other objects.

– said Jewłasz in an interview with the NV portal.

According to a spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force, Polish support will not solve all of Ukraine’s problems, for example it will not help stop a Russian attack using Kindzhal hypersonic missiles.

However, we can (then) effectively deal with most cruise missiles, guided missiles and drones

– argued the representative of the Ukrainian army.

But this is a problem for our diplomatic corps. Decisions (regarding this) are made at the highest level. We are responsible for what has been given to us, and our task is to protect the airspace and provide support to the ground components (armed forces) based on available means.

– Yewłasz admitted.

NV’s interlocutors assess that strengthening air defense forces is a priority goal for Kiev, since the main task of the state authorities is to more effectively protect important infrastructure facilities, especially power plants and important production plants.

We have many critical facilities in Ukraine and vast areas that cannot be protected with land-based launchers alone. No major country in the world is capable of securing its entire airspace with land-based launchers alone. Therefore, other components are often used – aircraft (…) and naval forces. We saw good results when Iran attacked Israel (in April this year). We have seen many videos showing how (the Israeli army), especially using our experience in the fight against the Shahed (Iranian kamikaze drones), can easily deal with (these drones)

– said the spokesperson.

As the authorities in Kiev emphasize, the aim of Russia’s missile strikes and drone strikes in recent months is not only to limit Ukraine’s economic potential, including energy, as much as possible, but also to exhaust the country’s air defense means. Government representatives, including: Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba have long sought additional supplies of missile launchers from Western countries, especially Patriot systems.
