00:01. Zelensky fired the head of the State Protection Directorate
On Thursday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky fired Serhiy Rud from the post of head of Ukraine’s State Protection Directorate (UDO) by decree. Rud has been its leader since 2019, reports the Ukrainska Pravda portal.

The reason for Rud’s resignation was not stated. However, the Ukraińska Pravda website stated that it may be related to the arrest of two UDO colonels involved in the Russian FSB security service’s plot to assassinate Zelensky.
On Tuesday, Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) detained five people working for Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB), planning an attack on President Zelensky. Among those arrested were two colonels of UDO, Ukraine’s security service for high-ranking officials.
The network, whose activities were supervised by the FSB from Moscow, included two UDO (State Protection Directorate) colonels, who conveyed classified information to the Russian Federation.
