These are bad days, weeks and months for Polish employees working, for example, in National Treasury companies such as PKP Cargo or Poczta Polska, where there are mass layoffs. According to those in power, the best way to restore order is to initiate group layoffs. This is a kind of collusion, because for example PKP Cargo fired Solidarity members. This is a declaration of war against NSZZ “Solidarność”. We can handle it. PKP Cargo does not have a regular consultation mode. Mr. Provincial Manager dismissed pregnant women, dismissed trade union activists who received special protection, and dismissed employees of pre-retirement age. We won subsequent cases in labor court, the court granted what is called a safeguard. This shows what is happening in this country

On October 23, NSZZ “Solidarność” took over the presidency of the Social Dialogue Council. Piotr Duda announced that if talks with the government within the framework of the RDS do not produce results, union members may take to the streets to protest.

We want to use all opportunities in social dialogue. From 23 October, “Solidarity” took over the leadership of the Social Dialogue Council. As chairman, I will try to return RDS to its normal function, namely conducting social dialogue on very difficult issues. “Solidarity” will be fought for by every employee. He won’t give up. We want to use all opportunities for social dialogue. If it doesn’t work, we will take to the streets

According to its leader “Solidarity”, the authorities of the Right Union should consult with “Solidarity” regarding the choice of candidates in next year’s presidential elections.

I am surprised that Right Unity hasn’t knocked on “Solidarity’s” door and asked who we will support. If the right wing thinks they will win the presidential election without us, then they are very wrong

Trades on Sundays and four days of the week

Piotr Duda referred to the Left’s ideas about liberalizing trade on Sundays and shortening working hours to four days.

You should also ask yourself – who will pay for the fifth day of work? We want to have time off and work only four days, but we want to earn as if we worked five days a week (…). The Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy, and even the entire left wing, wants to introduce a four-day working week, but wants to put women behind desks on Sunday who have no one to leave their children with? This hurts

40th anniversary of the martyrdom of Rev. Popieluszko

The Chairman of “Solidarity” reminded that 2024 is the year of Rev. Jerzy Popiełuszko, and pastor are patrons of the association.

October 19 is a very important date for us. As members of “Solidarity”, we gathered at the grave of Rev. George, but also all over the country, all over the place. We remember the tragic death of Rev. Jerzy Popiełuszko, because “Solidarity” ensures in his daily work that the places we remember, where Fr. Jerzy Popiełuszko visited them, they are very important for us. I would like to remind you that a year ago, on October 10, at the national congress of delegates “Solidarity”, trade union representatives announced that 2024 would be the year of Rev. Jerzy Popiełuszko on the 40th anniversary of his martyrdom. For us, Father Jerzy Popiełuszko is one of the spiritual leaders after Holy Father John Paul II, therefore we try to preserve his history. Father Jerzy left us a strong foundation for building a better future for Polish workers
