Culture, News | Horten’s Jan Willi takes home the prize in the world’s biggest competition

The CEWE Photo Awards is the name of the competition, and is considered the largest in the world. Hortensgutten was rewarded for his photo contributions with a place in the 31.–1000 group. The height, that is, when we know how many people have taken part.

This photo competition has judged more than half a million works submitted by photographers in nearly 150 countries.

– The spectacular photos were taken by professional and amateur photographers and capture moments that show the beauty and vulnerability of the world we live in, said the message the organizers sent to Gjengangeren.

– Good

– It’s always nice to receive good feedback, and in this case it includes gifts, says Jan Willi to Gjengangeren.

– I submitted photos to several competitions, some large, some local. As in regular competitions at Horten Fotoklubb.

– Do you work with the camera every day?

– No, not every day, but quite often. But when I first started, I took a lot of pictures. I think photography is fun, as you can see.

– With a cell phone?

– No, as little as possible. I only use my phone when absolutely necessary, in an emergency. If I want to take a photo, I use a camera – and now also a drone -, explains Jan Willi Talgø.

This year’s winner is from Indonesia, while two Norwegian pictures are in the 11–30 category.
