Velimi’s Ball Aerocan factory in Kolín is planning expansion. Thanks to increased European demand, they will acquire another already ninth production line and at the same time employ dozens of new people. Last year, the company that manufactures aluminum cases for the famous cosmetic brand’s spray earned 620 million crowns net for its American owners.
The company plans to complete the line in the last quarter of next year. “Concurrent with the launch, we intend to hire approximately 34 new employees,” Renee Robinson, a spokeswoman for parent company Ball Corporation, told server E15.cz. He declined to disclose the investment amount. Now the company has about 300 employees and eight lines are continuously operating.
The company exports most of its goods, its main customers being cosmetic manufacturers such as Schwarzkopf & Henkel, Unilever and Win Aerosol. Aluminum cases from Velimi are then used to produce sprays from the popular brands Fa, Rexona or Adidas.
Production increased tenfold
The Velim factory was built 13 years ago by the Cebalsol company of the French Péchiney group. In its first year of operation, the factory produced 45 million cases on the old line. Since then, the company has grown significantly, modernized, changed names and changed owners several times. The American Ball, which is the world’s largest manufacturer of beverage cans, took over the Czech company in January 2011 along with its acquisition of the entire Aerocan group.
According to published results, the factory is doing well, basically increasing production every year. Last year, according to the annual report, the company produced more than 465 million aluminum containers, earned 2.2 billion crowns and increased its net profit by 14 percent year-on-year to 620 million.
