This year’s jury consisted of Galice Hoarau, Lill Haugen and Lene Cathrin Sundal. During last night’s judging and throughout the night, it was clear that the various jury members emphasized the different qualities of the submitted images.
Something that everyone agrees on – and stresses out loud – is whether or not the image is in focus.
– Focus is something you should always check before sending an image. Is the image out of focus? Stop living it, said Galice Hoarau.
Jury member Lill Haugen led the presentations during the awards ceremony, and presented jury comments on the top five photos in each category.
– In many categories there is a very small margin, he said as the presentation started.

What do father and daughter think about the victory?
– I was really surprised, said Ole Christian Meldahl who was clearly delighted and surprised.
– So, what’s wrong? added an equally surprised daughter.
– We didn’t think we would join here once, said a very happy Laia Meldahl.
The collection of medals around the necks of the Meldahl duo on the docks in the lemurs rattled nicely. What they see primarily as a fun father-daughter journey suddenly becomes much more than they imagined.
Meldahl won gold in two classes (class A and D), silver in one class (class E) and bronze in one class (class B). Placements resulted in overall wins, NM gold and King’s Cup.
Meldahl represents the Kvitsøy Diving Club, which will organize NM in underwater photography in 2023, and has provided a good taste of what Kvitsy has to offer.
After all, it shouldn’t be about mood and excitement, as club members Kvitsøy have shown us this weekend!
