First barefoot tourist trail to open in Klánovice | Prague Health | News | Prague gossip

On the first Sunday in September, a ceremony for opening a hiking trail meant for barefoot climbing will take place. At Klánovický les Prague, the first historical route of this kind in the Czech Republic was created. David Mrhač and Igor Slouka, co-founders and leaders of the barefoot tourism department, which operates under the organization Czech Tourist Club, selected, prepared and built the route for about two years.

Thanks to the organization of the Czech Tourist Club, the Czech Republic is one of the world leaders in marking tourist routes. From 2021, a barefoot tourism department was established within KČT. “Walking barefoot or wearing barefoot shoes is a very strong trend at the moment. This is based on the knowledge that it is good for the feet, so one’s feet stay healthy. This trend is gaining more and more fans, and thanks to this, the various types of barefoot trails are continuously increasing.” said the deputy chairman of KČT on the occasion of Clan Trail Ladislav Macka.

This circular path begins with 10 years of walking barefoot

The background of today’s barefoot route is 10 years of walking barefoot, accumulating experience in our walks and programs at festivals, 10 years of reading special literature, etc. We intensively selected and prepared the clan route for approximately two years, including the fact that we personally walked the route several times barefoot. We are pleased that the trend of barefoot tourism is becoming more and more popular not only in the Czech Republic, but also among young people.” presented by Mrhač and Slouka for the Večerní Prague website.

The route is 8 kilometers long and takes the form of a circuit. This route will take tourists, both barefoot and with shoes, via Zálesí, Klánovický les, and Cyrilov. Educational boards are placed along the route, reminding the benefits and history of barefoot tourism. The ceremonial opening will take place on Sunday, September 3 at 14.00 at the Zálesí tourist junction. The opening walk will also include the 7th year’s tourist parade Behind the Drholce Robbers, where a program for children will be set up. You can find information about the parade Here.
