Full of confusion after the jump – leather braided referee – NRK Sport – Sports news, results and broadcast schedule

– First you say I have to wait, then you ask me to jump and I’m not ready. You can stop time, there are athletes and officials on the court. There must be a minute without anyone there, he says in the rule book.

Sondre Guttormsen was not at all satisfied after his second qualifying jump of 5.75 meters. The 23-year-old had just finished the game when he charged at one of the referees, clearly displeased.

– I want to jump again, he demanded.

– OKAY. You understand, replied the judge.

– Lots of chaos

Guttormsen also couldn’t make it work at the second attempt, and had to walk over to Atle coach and father Guttormsen.

There he explains the strange situation, and is supported by his father, who explains what happened to NRK.

– They started him with a lot of people on the street, and as soon as they wore passed, so he just had to jump, so he got another one, he said and added:

– But there’s a bit of a mess here, because they have to jump the same on both mats. Now those who jump 5.65 on the other mat have an advantage, because they can time what happened on the other mat.

After a brief discussion, Guttormsen was heard by the referee and jumped again.

– What happens to him when he has to jump twice?

– It’s impossible to jump twice in such a short time now. You can see that on the second jump, it doesn’t work. It’s a strong enough release to jump off, says Guttormsen’s father.

– I guess they agreed because they gave him another jump, but I don’t understand why they were driving … they would have stayed, he added, clearly disappointed.

to the final

At the third attempt, Sondre Guttormsen finally had to succeed, who managed to jump 5.75 meters.

That’s sick of you. A rather stressful endeavor, he told NRK.

He must have three attempts at 5.75 and must clear them to reach the final.

– It’s completely black. A final attempt at a height you know you have to complete to reach the final, so that’s scary.

Pål Haugen Lillefosse also qualified for the WC finals in the pole vault after jumping 5.75 meters.

– Phew, there was a high heart rate on the last attempt at 5.75. Anyway, I passed and now it’s just a matter of concentration until the final, he told NRK.

Twelve jumpers ready for Sunday’s final.

Simen Guttormsen ripped three times at 5.65 and dropped out of the competition. He is overall number 15.

– It’s hard not to advance, but I said before the competition that I wouldn’t be happy if I didn’t advance. But after such a competition, I almost have to say that I am satisfied. I jumped 65 and it’s a pretty clean and good competition. There was a good effort at 75, Guttormsen’s younger brother told NRK.
