It all started in 2010, when Gabriella Gerhardt from Wisconsin in the US was a college student and happened to see a four leaf clover on her way home from class.

Then he found another one.

And one more.

– It felt a bit magical to find one, so eventually I started walking around just looking for four-leaf clovers – and I just got better and better, Gabriella told Dagbladet.

Thousands of clovers

Then it got worse. First he collected a dozen, then a few thousand, and then a dozen thousand four-leaf clovers over the course of a year.

By 2013, he had managed to collect so many that he began to wonder what he was going to do with them.

– Then I searched for “the world’s largest four-leaf clover collection” and found that it contained an impressive 111,060 four-leaf clovers. I think I’ll spend the rest of my life trying to break this record – at least if I keep strumming at the same rate, says Gabriella.

But not then. On June 22 last year, Gabriella crossed a magical border with her 111,061 four-leaf clovers.

Lay flat after blistering

– Small community

– I’ve been posting on Instagram for almost ten years, and there are actually quite a few people around the world who collect four leaf clovers. It’s a niche with a small following, but there’s really only a small community out there, says Gabriella.

Last Saturday, the entire collection of official laminates was counted by several witnesses, he wrote WMTV, a local television station in Madison, Wisconsin. This is necessary for him to be able to submit and obtain a record approved by the Guinness Book of Records.

Beat record

Witnesses concluded that the collection now consisted of 118,791 four-leaf clovers. He therefore beat the old record by 7,730 four-leaf clovers.

– After working on this record for ten years, so I’m very happy that Clove finally counted. I’ve been picking 25,000 four-leaf clovers every year for the past three years, and while it’s fun, it would be nice to have a summer where I don’t have to collect so many four-leaf clovers — now I can just do it for fun, he says.

Gabriella emphasized that there is still some work to be done before she can apply for a record attempt and register it officially.

Along the way, Gabriella also collected records for the most four-leaf clover in one hour (451 four-leaf clover), as well as the most in eight hours (887 four-leaf clover). In addition, he holds the record for having collected 10,000 mutated clovers – clovers with more than three leaves – as well as the largest collection of six and seven leaf clovers.

– Like meditation

To find it, Gabriella has spent countless hours searching for the best four-leaf clover locations – and she’s kept it a secret.

While there was a lot of hard work involved in the recording endeavor, he also greatly enjoyed it.

– It’s like meditation for me. To find a four leaf clover, one must clear one’s mind. My Kløver trip brings me peace and joy, he says.

At the same time, she thanked her husband, family, friends and followers who have helped her along the way.

– I can’t do this alone. It took a lot of volunteer work for the tape to become a reality. My husband and family have been very supportive and have devoted a lot of time to helping me achieve my goals, says Gabriella.

According to the avid four-leaf clover hunter, her husband loves to surprise new acquaintances with his collection.

– He usually keeps them guessing how much I have. This is a fun anecdote to tell at work or at a party.
