Haaland and City continued in the FA Cup after the win over Arsenal
Manchester City are poised for the fifth round of the FA Cup after a 1-0 win over Premier League leaders Arsenal.
Erling Braut Haaland started for City, while captain Martin Ødegaard started on the bench.
Haaland was dealt a heavy blow in the 28th minute. The Norwegian giant remained silent, but quickly brushed it off.
Rob Holding Arsenal has received clear instructions from coach Arteta to prevent Haaland. That could quickly be punished with a red card after using both elbows and tearing.
– He was knocked down. Then Holding lived dangerously. He realized he could get into trouble, said Viaplay commentator Roar Stokke as Holding received a yellow card.
– Then it’s not comfortable playing one on one with little safety, when you have a yellow card in addition, says expert commentator Lars Tjærnås.
Holding was replaced shortly after the break in the 46th minute of play.
But Haaland was hard-pressed throughout the match, and he struggled to get past that barrier.
Have Arsenal found the recipe to stop the drought?
Opportunity after opportunity presented itself for City in the second half. And in the end sat down after a ping-pong return in the mail from Jack Grealish. Nathan Aké controlled the ball into the far corner.
Ødegaard was released until the 74th minute of play, without the captain being the center of play.
It was the first time that Haaland and Ødegaard had played against each other, but Norway’s big duel did not take place.
