False reports about Rebeka Maciorowski’s death surfaced, for example on the telegram channel Russian Propaganda Operation Z: Russian Spring Army.
“A female mercenary from America was eliminated in battle with Russian soldiers. Rebekah Maciorowski was born on January 26, 1994 in Knoxville, Tennessee. In the summer, she went to foreign war in Ukraine on the side of Nazi Ukraine. The details of her liquidation are unknown. The information is confirmed by American sources,” the channel wrote.
The fact that someone writes “the information is confirmed”, as a rule, on propaganda channels does nothing more than try to establish the impression of credibility. The real confirmation will look like text linking to another credible, official website that verifies the news.
Nevertheless, the news hit the Russian airwaves: he was quick to pick it up, for example true servers, and while on the original Telegram channel he quickly gathered around 18K satisfied reactions, on the Russian server Topwar competitive debate, who will celebrate his death more: The photo next to the trash can, really prophetic! That’s where it belongs, God forgive me! The Czechs also expressed their satisfaction at the news of his death in Slovanská nebe’s pro-Russian profile.
The news was also picked up by some non-Russian media, such as the influential Twitter account Visegrád24 (which later corrected).
Rebekah Maciorowski denied news of his death with a brief status on December 13, where she simply wrote “I live”. A day later, he added a video to silence claims that someone was controlling his profile.
