Two Norwegians finished on the podium in Wengen – Kristoffersen with his 30th World Cup win

– It was a very good race. The conditions on the road were tough, but there were two good sets of trails. Many thanks to everyone here at Wengen, said Kristoffersen in an interview with the organisers.

Braathen delivered a phantom lap in the final and cruised to a one-second lead ahead of Linus Strasser.

Unfortunately for the youngster, his more meritorious teammate came on and crushed his lead by 49 hundredths in the early events.

So only Switzerland’s Loïc Meillard can do something about the Norwegian slalom star.

Meillard cruised into 2nd place, 0.20 seconds behind Kristoffersen and placed himself between the two Norwegians.

– It feels really, really good. Very fat during the day. It’s really fun to do the tour. I enjoyed my duel with Henrik during the day. I think it’s healthy, says Braathen.

– The Norwegian slalom team is the best in the world now, that’s all, says Kristoffersen.

30th World Cup win

The victory was the second for Kristoffersen this season. He also won a slalom race at Garmisch-Partenkirchen earlier in January.

It was also the Rælingen runner’s 30th World Cup win. The only Norwegian with more wins is Aksel Lund Svindal at 36.

– Six behind Aksel, so we’re getting closer. What a great day. “I heard Lucas led by one second, then said there was nothing more to do,” Kristoffersen told Viaplay.

Atle Lie McGrath was in 5th place after the first round and cruised to take the lead in the final round. Unfortunately, he already lost to Strasser in the next starting event.

The Boy from Bærum defended 5th place.

Elleville hiking trip

Alexander Steen Olsen made a real climb after finishing number 27 in the first round, 5.17 seconds behind leader Meillard.

The youngster rode solidly in the second half on the snow and eventually finished in 14th place.

– The round is solid. I could have been a little more disciplined on the hang, and it was tough on the bottom because there was snow on the goggles. But overall, I hit the gas and I’m very satisfied, Steen Olsen told Viaplay.

Timon Haugan and Sebastian Foss-Solevåg were among the 30 runners who advanced in the first round.
