Do you like watching bikes? Tour de France winner Jonas Vingegaard loves football and the 25-year-old from Denmark is certainly a big Liverpool supporter.
On Sunday night, Jonas Vingegaard took the overall win on the Champs-Élysées and became the Danish first Tour de France winner since 1996. That was confirmed when the 25-year-old crossed the finish line for the last time in a yellow shirt. .
One thing that many people don’t know about the Dane is that he is a dedicated Liverpool supporter in addition to his professional cycling career. There may not be a lot of time between races for professional cyclists, but some of the time is spent at Anfield.
– I watch football and I am a big Liverpool supporter, the 25-year-old revealed in 2020.
Standing among the Anfield crowd
Often there are several reasons why a supporter chooses a particular team. Why Vinegaard chose Liverpool in particular is unknown, but he has no doubts about who is the best to watch.
– I love watching them play, said Dane.
He has also been to Anfield at least once in the past. It must have been an absolutely fantastic experience.
– Last season (19/20) I went to England with my girlfriend to see them play at Anfield. It was a magical atmosphere and a beautiful experience, said Vinegaard.
Now that the Tour de France is over for the Dane, he can rest for a while. It fits perfectly, as Liverpool open the season against Manchester City next weekend. There, it’s possible that the Dane will be standing among the Liverpool fans a week after victory in the world’s biggest cycling race.
