TCL has had great success with its 98″ TV screens, but now that it’s time for exhibitions to return, of course it’s necessary to top things off with something new. And the Chinese manufacturer isn’t content with rounding up to 100 inches, but is happy to stick with the eye-catching 115″!
“- With tireless dedication and continuous innovation, we are excited to return to IFA with our latest display technology, facilitating a more sustainable and connected community,” said Jun Zhao, CEO of TCL CSOT in a statement. pers conference.
Speaking of sustainability, it might help to have at least two men around when this behemoth is being towed around the house. Watch a video from the IFA exhibition below:
115″ QD Mini LED TV
Reportedly this is the world’s first 115″ Mini LED TV. It’s known as 115X11G in China, but will probably be called 115X955 when it comes to Europe and the Nordics. TCL has confirmed 85″ and 98″ models in the X955 series, which have somewhat complicated specifications.
This new flagship model uses an LCD-based image panel with a Quantum Dot Pro color filter, 4K resolution, and MiniLED backlighting with local dimming. The 115-inch display should be capable of 5,000 nits of brightness and have more than 20,000 dimming zones.
The colossal screen also offers a wide color spectrum in cinema quality (up to 99% of the DCI color space). The LCD panel uses HVA technology which guarantees wider viewing angles, which together with the Mini LED backlight achieves a contrast ratio of 7000:1.
According to TCL, the screen is not only ideal for home cinema, but also a top choice for gamers. This TV supports a refresh rate of up to 144Hz, which provides a seamless gaming experience in fast-paced games like shooters, action, and racing.
Going from 98″ to 115″ is no joke: for the screen to fit together, stand upright and stay level, it needed a much sturdier construction. This of course means that the TV becomes much heavier to hold – in this case around 93 kilograms.
However, it seems that TCL is serious about bringing this 2.5 x 1.4 meter screen (without box!) into people’s homes, if not to thousands of homes, at least to some of the enthusiasts out there.
There are also smaller options
Fortunately, a TV doesn’t have to be large to produce good picture quality. TCL showcased displays ranging from 98″ to 50 inches in the C805 series with MiniLED technology at the IFA show. Sebastian Skarp, Retail Marketing Manager at TCL, is a big believer in the series, which will be sold under the name MQLED80 in Elkjøp in the Nordics.
