At Frýdek-Místek, they recently started solving the problem of recruiting young people in shopping centers. They allegedly drank alcohol, abused visitors, and fights also occurred. The police intervened in the situation as a precaution.
Petr Korč (NMFM), mayor of Frýdek-Místek: “City FM has been dedicated to youth and their leisure activities for a long time. However, we can note that young people congregate around large shopping malls and it is not just FM that is the problem. For us, the situation has deteriorated slightly around Frýda Shopping Center and within, and we want to show children that there are far more interesting activities than spending time at the mall.”
Therefore, the city keeps in mind an overview of the possibilities of various activities for children and youth.
Petr Korč (NMFM), mayor of Frýdek-Místek: “As city managers, we feel very strongly about offering a variety of recreational activities to our children. Therefore the city of FM has not only established a number of organizations dedicated to children, but also systematically supports various associations and activities, whether sporting, cultural or recreational. And we believe that if kids are offered enough variety, they won’t have time to think about things they didn’t have to deal with as kids. I am sure that if they have enough movement and intellectual enjoyment, it will contribute to the development of their health and therefore, as a city, we will do our best. Either in our schools, which we founded, or by supporting associations: sport, culture and recreation.”
According to the management of the shopping center, the situation eased slightly in March. Just to be safe, the city now also sends police officers to the neighborhood every afternoon to maintain order.
